Top 8 Weirdest places I’ve . . . .

Sold books of course! This is just for fun, but here’s a list of the weirdest places I’ve managed to sell my books or get my book into the hands of readers. No, I’m not joking or elaborating on ANY of these.

#8 – At a comic book shop

Basically Sam and I went in there to put up a poster, but we took a copy of the book just in case. Kattie, the girl working, said she’d put up the poster AND get the copy of the book for herself.

#7 – At the hair salon

Yeah I went to get my hair cut, dyed and styled. The girl kept talking about the Hunger Games so I casually took my copy out of my purse and put it on the counter. Soon we were talking about it and at first I didn’t tell her I wrote it, but when I did, WOW, she was all impressed and had a big OMG moment. Yeah, then she said she was going to go pick it up.

#6 – In my bedroom

I had a friend come over to hang out and she knew I wrote a book but she hadn’t picked up a copy yet. So right then and there she pretty much grabbed a copy from my closet.

#5 – In the volunteer break room

At comic con. I was up there meeting with an exhibitor, we were taking care of some convention business. He asked what I was doing at the con now, since I was no longer a head coordinator. I told him about my book, and it just so happened that there was a copy on the volunteer prize table. He picked it up, paid me for it and left.

#4 – Theft

About a year before FoS was officially published, I put together a copy on my own. It was unpublished, but it had a pretty cover and everything. I ordered those copies through Lulu, they were beta copies, meant for people like Sam who had helped me on trailers and such. Well somehow, Angel stole the copy I had given to Sam.

#3 – Out of my van

Comic con is really big, and I didn’t get to see everyone before the con was over. During tear down I put everything in my van, and then started seeing all of these people I didn’t get a chance to talk to for one reason or another. Anyway, two of those people bought books that were literally out of the back of my van.

#2 – In the loading dock

Again, during tear down, saw more people I hadn’t seen but after the whole van fiasco I grabbed a couple more copies and put them in my purse. Well two of the guys from one of the business I’ve dealt with for years came up to me and we began talking about the book. We walked out to the loading dock, went around the corner, and I um, pulled the books out of my purse for them. (I know what you’re thinking, don’t worry I was thinking it too at the time.)

#1 – Borrowed it from my mom

Apparently you don’t need a library card anymore, you just need my mom. My brother’s new girlfriend went over to my mom’s house and saw my book. She said she saw in the bookstore and was going to buy a copy but hadn’t gotten around to it. My mom let her borrow her copy and she e-mailed me to tell me she loved it. Yay! Go moms!

What about you? Weirdest place you’ve ever gotten someone interested in a book?

Ahh! It has been awhile, I'm glad you stopped by. I try to be dedicated, anywhere I can push a few copies on people is a good thing, as long as it's not me being annoying or something.
