In a future world, Vampires reign. Humans are blood cattle. And one girl will search for the key to save humanity.
Julie you know I love you right? I didn’t love this. Julie gives us entirely other worlds to live in with her books. You can feel them and breathe them in. Sometimes those worlds are amazing and surreal, and other times those worlds are places we don’t want to live in.
I don’t want to live in Allison Sekemoto’s world. From the time she’s an unregistered scrounging the bottom of the barrel for the basic essentials to the time she’s turned to the time she’s faking being human and living with Zeke, I didn’t want to be her.
This story was basically a zombie apocalypse with vampires, only there are rabids which are like zombies, only faster. The family Allison becomes part of are some of the only humans left, and by the end of the book they’re ready to turn on her. She saves them, goes against everything her vampire instincts tell her, and tries to be one of the humane vampires.
I admired Allison’s strength, will power and determination. To fight against her own kind like that without any real knowledge of whether or not it would do her any good, kudos!
The best part though? The preview of The Lost Prince at the end. *squee* That’s right, I’ll follow Julie into a faery realm any day!
