About: The demon Lilith has been destroyed and Jace has been freed from her captivity. But when the Shadowhunters arrive to rescue him, they find only blood and broken glass. Not only is the boy Clary loves missing–but so is the boy she hates, Sebastian, the son of her father Valentine: a son determined to succeed where their father failed, and bring the Shadowhunters to their knees.

My Thoughts: Remember way back when I said Cassandra Clare was my favorite author ever? Mostly because of a very very inappropriate and sexy explosion scene? (I don’t know what else to call it, things blew up then shirts went off and there was kissing when there should NOT have been kissing but I knew the truth about the characters so I was like, aw, it’s actually kinda not disgusting.)

Well now I’m in book withdrawal. When is City of Heavenly Fire coming out? Also I think I know what that book is going to be about but because of that awesomeness you had to sacrifice some other major awesomeness, and I’m sad about what I’m losing for what I’m gaining.

It’s hard to sum up this book but basically, in the first three books Valentine, supposedly, Clary and Jace’s father, was the heinous villain willing to take down the Clave. If you thought Valentine was evil, wait until you meet his son, Jonathan Christopher Morgenstern, whom everyone calls Sebastian because he killed a guy named Sebastian Verlac and took his life once upon a time. Sebastian is insane, completely and utterly insane.

If you haven’t read the other books in this series start now because when you get here, WHOA. And I mean WHOA. There are not a lot of books that literally take me out of time and space but for this book, WOW. I don’t want to spoil it for all the people who didn’t pick it up last Tuesday but honestly, what are you waiting for? If you get it at Chapters there’s a nice handwritten note in the back from Stephen William Herondale to Jace. There’s also enough action, intertwining relationships and dirty sexy scenes to keep you going until Cassandra writes another book.

If you are a fan of the series, here’s what to expect in City of Lost Souls:
Jace isn’t himself yet, he was losing it in City of Fallen Angels, but now he’s lost it.
Relationships deepen between Jordan and Maia and Simon and Isabelle
Alec and Magnus are on the rocks, and Alec does something that has consequences
There’s more incest, although this time it’s not the type anyone wants.
Violence. There’s a battle at the end and some demon fighting.
Snark, I wish Jace would give it up and stop thinking every man, woman and octopus is into him.
Dirty Sexy Club Scene and Dirty Sexy Bedroom Scene, and sex, but um, it’s not Jace and Clary (boo)
A tour of Europe (no I’m not joking)

As with most Cassandra Clare Books there’s always something in that that makes me want to tear my hair out, no matter how amazing they are. This time it’s the end, in a few simple words Jace says to Clary.

I leave you with that though, go read it and we can squee and talk about it together! Cassandra takes questions on tumblr!

I've read and absolutely LOVED the first three books in the Mortal Instruments series, but although I own the next two, I didn't yet get to them. Why? Because I've read the first three so long ago, I actually don't remember much of the plot xD I know, I'm horrible! I so need to re-read the whole thing, but I'm thinking to do that after the last one comes out. I am thrilled
