My Passion Play: Amy and Elder (Across the Universe by Beth Revis)

One of my favorite literary couples actually, even though the romance isn’t the focal point of the story.

Amy has been frozen via cryogenics and is on a 300 year trip to another planet. During a security breech, Amy is woken up early.

It was fun to see how culture had changed and how the people managed to live in the bubble, not privy to the outside world.

I also found Elder’s fascination with Amy entertaining. It’s very clear in his passages that he’s a teenage boy.

Wrap this one up in a lot of mystery, and it’s one of those books that will leave you guessing but also yearning for Amy and Elder to get together.

If you haven’t read this book yet you need to. I can’t wait to see where Amy and Elder’s relationship goes in book two A Million Suns, which is out in January!

I loved this book, too and I agree with you that what was great about Elder was that he came across like a real teenage guy and not the super-cool, aloof guys we often find in YA. I'm glad Across the Universe wasn't a full-blown romance; I'm hoping we can see Amy and Elder's relationship build up slowly over the course of the trilogy.
