How do you write?
I have a three step process. I think. I outline and I write like the wind.
Who is your publisher?
I’m both traditionally and self published. The Ferryman & The Flame series is published by Word Fire Press, owned by Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta. The Temperance Era series and Integrated Intuition are published by me and available exclusively on Amazon.
How did you get published?
I did all the things everyone else does, query agents, attend writing conferences, write more books, build a platform, and I attracted readers, interest and a small press. I kept the books with the small press for a year before branching off and self publishing my books. When I was picked up by Word Fire Press it was because I had met Kevin at shows previously and we simply decided to work together. It’s been an epic collaboration.
Who are your literary influences?
Marion Zimmer Bradley, Cassandra Clare, Maggie Stiefvater, Julie Kagawa and Neil Gaiman. Each of these authors have taught me, inspired me, and helped me become the author I am today.
What is your favorite book?
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
How can I get a signed book?
Very soon I’ll have options on my sister site (www.rhiannonpaille.com) for signed copies. In the meantime you can find my books at any of the events I’m at. Check out my sister site for appearance schedule.
Which events do you go to?
I often appear at the same events Word Fire Press is doing, plus various Comic Cons and Book Events like UtopYA.
When will SURRENDER become a movie?
When the fans organize a kickstarter and make it happen for me or when Nova Scotia falls into the sea. Whichever comes first.
Is the world a wish granting factory?
For some people it is, but it’s more like some people have an infinite number of wishes and some of us have only a few. Some infinities are bigger than other infinities.
Which would you choose, love or destiny?
I am one of those people who cannot function without love. For me being with my husband is as important as breathing. I would be completely incapacitated without him. However, I also have a destiny (I know, not many people do anymore) and I have no choice but to be in love, and fulfill my destiny. It’s a difficult balance, but if I had to choose, I would choose love, because frankly, destinies are always so vague and fickle and love isn’t.
What is the meaning of life?
I like to believe in the simplest answer I can glean. The meaning of life is to live. There are no further requirements, live and you have done your part in the bigger picture. Of course how to live is a debatable affair and I believe everyone should choose their own way to live. Do what you love, enjoy life.
If were in a karaoke song-off, who would win?
One of the first times I did karaoke I chose The Show Must Go On by Queen, which yes is originally sung by Freddie Mercury, so my turn comes and I get on stage and the DJ looks at me and says, “Are you sure about this?” and I’m thinking “What? Just play the damned song.” I mumble something awkward and he says, “Looking at you it doesn’t look like you’d be able to pull off Bohemian Rhapsody.” I smiled, and actually said, “Well looks can be deceiving.” And then I pulled off the song and the guy was like, “Wow! Best Queen in the house ever!” And then he apologized to me before I got off stage.
So I would probably do very well.
Are you happy?
Happier than I’ve ever been. I have so much love for everyone who has been there for me, especially my husband and daughters who have run the household and let me write.
