I’m petrified of this contest.

I’d rather sing in front of thousands of people dressed in something that could fit in the palm of my hand.

Except for the part where that would be inappropriate (the dressing, not the singing, I’m a fantastic vocalist)

And so instead I’m going to let people read my book. (insert terrified screams here)

I’ve thought a lot about this because I’m not the type that says, “Hey everyone, read my book!”

I’m the type that finishes writing/revising/editing a book, heads over to Lulu, designs a cover I like, orders 1 copy for myself, 1 for my crit partner and 1 for my best friend. And then after I’ve read and doodled in my copy I stick it on my headboard above my bed, in case I want to pull it down in the middle of the night and reread the scenes I loved.

I’ve read FLAME of SURRENDER about eighteen times front to back.

And I’ve loaned out my copies to a very small group of people (as in, I know all of their names by heart.) Usually people have to request it, and then I have to think about it, and sometimes I say no . . .

My writing motto has always been, “It is better to write for the self and have no public than to write for the public and have no self.”

Which makes this extra terrifying for me.

But I didn’t want to give away someone else’s book, or a gift card. I wanted to giveaway something that you literally can’t get anywhere else. (And somehow convince you it’s awesome)

And so to prove it’s awesome, keep reading . . .

The Title: FLAME of SURRENDER (The Ferryman and The Flame #1)
The Genre: YA Fantasy
The Blurb: The boy who follows death meets the girl who could destroy the world.

Krishani thinks he’s doomed until he meets Kaliel, the one girl on the island of Avristar who isn’t afraid of him. She’s unlike the other girls, she swims with merfolk, talks to trees and blooms flowers with her touch. What he doesn’t know is that she’s a flame, one of nine individually hand crafted weapons, hidden in the body of a seemingly harmless girl.

Nobody has fallen in love with a flame until now. She becomes Krishani’s refuge from the dreams of death and the weather abilities he can’t control. Striking down thousand year old trees with lightning isn’t something he tries to do, it just happens. When the Ferryman dies, Krishani knows that he’s the next and that a lifetime of following death is his destiny.

And Kaliel can’t come with him. The Valtanyana are hunting the flames, the safest place for her is Avristar. Krishani can’t bear to leave her, and one innocent mistake grants the Valtanyana access to their mystical island. They’re coming for Kaliel, and they won’t stop until every last living creature on Avristar is dead. She has to choose, hide, face them, or awaken the flame and potentially destroy herself.

The Teaser: In which Kaliel meets Krishani . . .
