FOLLOW: Meeting Book Characters / First 5 Pages / Fav Couples

Good morning!

I was finishing a book last night so Follow Friday goes up now!

Q. ACK! Your favorite book/movie character (example Hermione Granger played by the Emma chick) just walked into the room! Who is it and what would be your first reaction? You get extra points if you include visual stimulation.

I’d really hope not to meet someone who plays a character from a book I love. Reason being? I’ve met a lot of celebrities already through Comic Con and they’re nothing like the characters they play. And me being the behind the scenes girl, I don’t get to see them in their face to the public roles, no I get to see them complaining about coffee, food, hotel beds, schedule, airfare, transportation, on stage Q&A’s and more.

I’ve had some real horror stories, and then I’ve had some that worked out really well. The people from Star Wars are great, and Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) actually had dinner at my house!

But then we move to people like Margot Kidder and Carrie Fischer and um, I have met one of them, and the other I hope I never meet.

“What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book, and what makes you want to stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf?“

Oh what a loaded question! You know a lot of things stop me, dialogue, description, cheesiness, etc. etc. It’s really just the feel of a book, if I’m not getting the emotion, the ambiance and the curiosity in the first few pages, then I might slog through it just so I can review it, but most of the time I’ll put it down. I rarely stick around just for the kissy bits or the bigger action bits. A book has to take me away almost immediately, and that’s what makes me get to the end.

Mr & Mrs: Who are your favorite book couples?

Kaliel and Krishani from The Ferryman and The Flame Series (um, that was a shameless plug since I wrote those books.)

Um . . . but no they are my favorite, I wouldn’t have stayed with them so long if I didn’t love them and believe me, wouldn’t have written that ending last night if I didn’t totally believe in them.

I also love Grace & Sam from the Wolves of Mercy Falls Series, and Jace & Clary from The Mortal Instruments Series and Katniss & Peeta from The Hunger Games Series.

Thanks for stopping by for all the Follow Friday fun! See ya next week, it’s Canada Day baby!

Namaste,
Rhi
